Gaie Houston first studied group
behaviour with National Training Laboratories in the United States. Gaie is on
the editorial boards of The Gestalt Review, USA; The
British Gestalt Journal; and Self and Society, Journal of
Humanistic Psychology.
She has worked as a consultant in many organisations, as well as teaching Gestalt, unconscious group process, and other group topics. She has served as a local councillor, and as a manager in a 2,500 bed psychiatric hospital, where she chaired the setting-up of a hostel for recovering addicts.
She is now Emeritus Adviser to the Gestalt Centre,
London, with whom she has worked over the last thirty years, and a
visiting lecturer in various countries overseas. She has taught supervision
since 1980, and more recently also Brief Gestalt Therapy.
She has written eighteen plays, many for BBC Radio, and some for theatre. She has co-presented a BBC Television series on behaviour in small groups, and presented two series for Yorkshire Television on sexual behaviour.
